Progression free survival (PFS) was calculated from start of first treatment to disease progression or death from any cause, or the date the patient was last known to be in remission. Overall survival (OS) was calculated from start of first treatment to the date of death or the date the patient was last known to be alive. Duration of response (DOR) was calculated from the time of first response achievement, that is at least PR, to the time of disease progression, with deaths owing to causes other than progression not counted, but censored. For the analysis of treatment responses, PFS and OS, the patients were divided into two groups: one group was treated with HDT/ASCT, the other group received treatment with conventional-dose chemotherapy.
